The ventilator will be made in Bangladesh

Minister of State for Information and Communications Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak said the country will produce a ventilator machine with the help of Medtronic technology to combat the deadly corona virus (Covid-1). He made this known at a zoom online press conference on Tuesday (March 7) at his residence at 3 pm.

 

The ventilator will be made in Bangladesh


He said that Medtronic, a world-renowned medical equipment manufacturing company based in the US, will provide technical assistance to interested companies including Walton of Bangladesh with patents, source code, design, hardware, software to create their PB3 ventilators. There has already been a detailed discussion with the company about what technology Bangladesh needs to produce ventilators at the initial stage. Later, local inventors and producers will be trained.

He said the matter was discussed with the concerned department including the Health Directorate. However, it is not yet known when its production will begin. It has not yet been decided whether some organizations will work on this issue at an early stage. Walton initially expressed his interest in producing ventilators with his own financing, with technical support from Medtronic.

The state minister said after the production of ventilators, the production companies will determine whether they will market them for business purposes. The government will just go through the guidelines.

The partnership with American company Medtronic will make production easier. Local technology manufacturing companies and young innovators will be able to accelerate the innovation trend.

The Minister of State for ICT said that those who work together in the initial stages of production locally include Walton, MyWan, Minster, Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST), Startup Bangladesh, Made in Bangladesh, IDEA Project, iLab Innovation.

The press conference included senior secretary of the ICT department NM Ziaul Alam, senior officials, representatives of Walton, military institute of science and technology, I Labs and representatives of various institutions.
